Laptop batteries can last a year to several years based on usage, and if you are always on the go, you may not be able to tell if you are not getting the life out of your laptop battery the way that you used to. You can get the information on your laptop battery health by running a command at the command prompt:

To open Command Prompt with Admin rights, you have 2 ways:

Method 1: Type "cmd" in the Search box on the Charms bar of Windows 8.
Method 2: Press the Windows key + X and then select Command Prompt (Admin).

Step 2: Run the Powercfg Command

Use code with caution. Learn more
This will generate a report called "battery-report.html" located in the "Users\Your Username" folder on your C: drive.

Step 3: Open the Battery Report

Open the "battery-report.html" file in a web browser to view the battery health report.

The report will show you the following information about your laptop battery:

Design Capacity: The original capacity of the battery in milliamp-hours (mAh).
Full Charge Capacity: The current capacity of the battery in mAh.
